What God Showed Me: When Letting go is an act of faith

Learning to release what only God can change.

“Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.”

🌸 Reflection

There are seasons in life when the heaviest burdens aren’t the ones we can see–they’re the ones we quietly carry in our hearts.

This past week, I’ve wrestled with feelings of emotional exhaustion in my marriage. There have been moments when I’ve felt as though every conversation was being examined, every action questioned, and every intention misunderstood. Over time, that kind of weight can leave you feeling less like you’re walking through life together and more like you’re simply existing side by side.

As difficult as this week has been, God gently reminded me of something that has changed within me.

During my time in my prayer closet– reading His Word, praying, reflecting, and journaling– I realized that my peace cannot depend on someone else’s perceptions of me. I cannot control how another person interprets my actions, nor can I heal wounds that only God can reach. Those are burdens that were never mine to carry.

Instead of asking God to change someone else, He began reminding me of the work He has already done in me.

Years ago, I may have allowed fear, frustration, or the need to prove myself to consume my thoughts. But this week, I recognized evidence of God’s transforming work in my own heart. He has taught me to run to Him instead of striving to control situations beyond my reach.

The Lord knows every season I’ve endured, every heartbreak I’ve survived, and every prayer I’ve whispered when no one else was listening. Because of that, I can trust that He also knows the plans He has for my future. My responsibility isn’t to force outcomes or carry burdens that belong to someone else. My responsibility is to remain faithful, continue seeking Him, and trust that He will accomplish His purposes in His perfect timing.

Sometimes, letting go isn’t giving up.

Sometimes, letting go is one of the greatest acts of faith.

🩷 Living It Out

Is there a burden you’ve been carrying that God never asked you to hold?

This week, spend a few moments in prayer and ask the Lord to reveal what belongs in His hands instead of yours. Trust that His shoulders are strong enough to carry what yours were never meant to bear.

✍️ Reflection Question

What burden has God been inviting you to place in His hands instead of carrying on your own?

🙏 Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for meeting me in both my joy and my weariness. Thank You for reminding me that I don’t have to carry every burden or solve every problem. Help me release the things that only You can change and give me the wisdom to recognize the difference between my responsibility and Yours.

Strengthen my heart when I feel discouraged, guard my peace when circumstances feel uncertain, and continue shaping me into the woman You have called me to be. Teach me to trust Your timing, Your wisdom, and Your unfailing love. Above all, help me remain close to You, knowing that Your presence is greater than any struggle I face.

In Jesus’ Mighty name,

Amen. 💜

You Are Seen. You Are Loved. You Are Welcome Here.
