Can I be honest with you for a minute?
Have you ever doubted yourself so much that you almost overlooked what God was doing?
Today, I experienced one of those moments.
I recently completed a broadcasting project for my journalism class. After I finished interviewing the Director of Transportation at my job, she unexpectedly offered to connect me with the Communications Director for our school district about a potential position in communications after I graduate in May.
I was incredibly honored.
But if I’m being honest, my first response wasn’t excitement.
It was fear.
Immediately, I began questioning myself. I didn’t feel like my work was good enough. I started focusing on everything I thought I lacked instead of recognizing the gifts God has already placed within me.
I stayed up late editing my news broadcast package and finally submitted the assignment that was already late might I add. When I clicked the submit button, I honestly thought to myself, “Whatever grade I get, I get. As long as I pass, I’ll be okay.”
This morning I received an email notification that my assignment has been graded. I immediately became filled with anxiety. I just knew the feedback was going to devastating.
Instead of simply seeing a grade, I found a message from my professor that began with one word:
“BRAVO!”
She went on to tell me that my camera shots were spot on, that she loved the movement I captured in my footage, and that my work reflected advanced-level production. She even told me that although the assignment was submitted late, (I was granted an extension by the way), that it was worth the wait.
As I sat there reading her words, I realized something.
God wasn’t just grading my assignment.
He was confronting my self-doubt.
Today, God showed me that His plans for my life have never depended on my confidence in myself.
They have always depended on His time and His faithfulness.
Far too often, we allow fear, insecurity, and our own inner critic to convince us that we aren’t qualified enough, talented enough, or capable enough. But God doesn’t call us because we’ve perfected ourselves.
He calls us because He has already prepared us.
Today, God reminded me that the plans He has for me will always outshine and outweigh the doubts I have about myself.
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
– Ephesians 2:10 (ESV)
🌸 Living It Out
Have you been allowing self-doubt to keep you from walking confidently in what God has called you to do?
Maybe you’ve questioned you abilities, compared yourself to others, or convinced yourself that someone else is more qualified.
Today, choose to replace those thoughts with God’s truth.
Remember that He doesn’t call the equipped.
He equips those He calls.
Walk confidently knowing that the One who created you has already prepared good works for you to accomplish.

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for reminding me that my identity is not found in my own abilities but in who You say I am. Forgive me for the moments when fear and self-doubt become louder than Your promises.
Help me to trust that You are preparing me for every opportunity You place before me. Give me the courage to walk confidently in the purpose You’ve created for my life, even when I don’t feel qualified.
Remind me that Your plans are always greater than my fears and that Your faithfulness never depends on my confidence.
May I continue to grow in faith, trusting that the work You began in me, You will faithfully complete.
