How Bible journaling became a way for me to slow down, reflect, and treasure God’s Word.
“I have treasured your word in my heart so that I may not sin against you.”
–Psalm 119:11
✍️ In My Journal Today
One of the most meaningful parts of my day is the quiet time I spend alone with God in my prayer closet. It’s there that I open my Bible, pray, sit in His presence, and reflect on what He is teaching me through His Word. As I journal those thoughts, I’m often reminded that God speaks in both the extraordinary and the ordinary moments of life. Writing down those reflections helps me slow down, listen more closely, and recognize His faithfulness in ways I may have otherwise overlooked.
Bible journaling has become much more than writing notes beside a passage of Scripture. It has become a sacred space where God’s Word, prayer, and personal reflection come together. Some days my pages are filled with colorful highlights and handwritten prayers, while other days they simply hold a single verse that God continues to impress upon my heart. Every page serves as a reminder that God is continually shaping me, teaching me, and drawing me closer to Him.
🌸 Reflection
One of the things I’ve learned is that I remember Scripture differently when I take the time to write it, reflect on it, and respond to it personally. Bible journaling encourages me to pause instead of rushing through my quiet time. It helps me notice details I may have overlooked and creates a visual reminder of what God was teaching me during that season of my life.
💕 Living It Out
This week, choose one verse that speaks to your heart.
Write it in a journal, underline a word that stands out to you, or simply jot down one sentence about what God is teaching you through that passage. Remember, Bible journaling isn’t about creating a masterpiece–it’s about creating space for God to speak.
🙏🏾 Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of Your Word and for the privilege of spending time in Your presence. As I open my Bible, quiet my heart and help me hear Your voice above every distraction. Teach me to treasure Scripture, not only in my journal but also in my daily life. May every note I write and every verse I reflect on draw me closer to You and deepen my faith. Help me to love Your Word more each day and to live out the truths You reveal to me.
In Jesus’ Mighty name, Amen.
