Sometimes making it through the week is the testimony.
🌸 Today’s conversation
This week was mentally exhausting.
Between the first week back at school, media projects, late nights, early mornings. In trying to balance all of life’s responsibilities, there were moments when I felt completely drained.
I had every intention of posting to the Grace & Growth blog throughout the week. In fact, I had topics planned and thoughts written down. However, by the time I got home each evening, I simply didn’t have anything left to give. One night I came home, showered and got comfortable on the couch. I was intended to just rest for a minute…I woke up the next morning and was almost late to work.
At first I felt guilty.
I began thinking about everything I hadn’t accomplished and every post I had missed.
But in my many conversations with the Lord and complaining about how tired I was, He reminded me of something I needed to hear.
His grace was never dependent on my productivity.
Sometimes we measure our days by everything we accomplished.
God measures them by our faithfulness.
This week, I didn’t accomplish everything I had planned.
But I remained faithful.
I kept showing up to work.
I cared for the students on my bus.
I completed assignments.
I continued spending time with the Lord, even if it wasn’t exactly how I had envisioned my week unfolding.
And through it all…
His grace carried me through.
This week, God reminded me that sometimes making it through the week is the testimony.
“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
– 2 Corinthians 12:9 (ESV)
📖 Apostle Paul
Today when I thought about how God’s grace meets us in our weakness, Apostle Paul came to mind.
Paul pleaded with God to remove what he called a “thorn in the flesh.” We aren’t told exactly what it was, but we know it caused him great difficulty.
Instead of removing it, God responded with these powerful words:
“My grace is sufficient for you.”
God didn’t promise Paul an easy journey.
He promised His presence.
Sometimes we pray for God to remove our burdens, while God is teaching us to depend on His strength in the middle of them.
Paul discovered that weakness wasn’t where God’s work stopped.
It was often where God’s power became most visible.
✝️ Looking to Jesus
Jesus understands what it means to become physically and emotionally weary.
Throughout His earthly ministry, He poured Himself into people day after day––teaching, healing, serving, comforting, and praying.
Yet we also see Jesus intentionally withdrawing to quiet places to spend time with the Father.
He understood the importance of rest.
He understood the necessity of prayer.
And even now, Jesus invites every weary heart with these comforting words:
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
–Matthew 11:28, ESV
What a beautiful reminder that we don’t have to earn His grace.
We simply receive it.
🌿 Living It Out
Maybe your week looked nothing like you planned.
Maybe you’re carrying disappointment because you didn’t accomplish everything on your to-do list.
Before you criticize yourself…
Pause.
Take a deep breath.
Instead of asking,
“What didn’t I finish?
Ask yourself,
“Where did I see God’s grace this week?
You may discover that His faithfulness was present in ways you almost overlooked.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for reminding me that Your love for me is not based on my productivity but on Your unchanging grace.
Forgive me for the times I’ve measured my worth by everything I accomplished instead of resting in who I am as Your child.
When I feel weary, remind me that I don’t have to carry every responsibility in my own strength. Help me trust that Your grace truly is sufficient and that Your power shines brightest when I acknowledge my need for You.
Teach me to embrace both work and rest as gifts from You, knowing that You are faithfully working even when I feel like I haven’t done enough.
Thank You for Jesus, who invites every weary heart to come and find rest in Him.
May I begin each new day relying on Your strength instead of my own.
In Jesus’ Mighty and Glorious name,
Amen
🌸 Reflection
Looking back over this week, where did you experience God’s grace carrying you when your own strength wasn’t enough?
I’d love for you to share your story in the comments.
Your testimony may be exactly what someone else needs to read today.
✝️ Looking to Jesus
As this week comes to a close, remember this:
Jesus never asked weary people to prove they were strong enough.
He simply invited then to come.
If all you have to offer Him today is an exhausted heart and a whispered prayer…
Bring it to Him.
His grace is still sufficient.
His love is still unfailing.
And His strength is still made perfect in our weakness.
